On February 23, 2024, the Challenger Learning Center in Columbia, SC, witnessed the thrilling spectacle of the Second Annual AviCom, a prestigious event organized by Greenville Technical Charter High School in collaboration with Triple Tree Aerodrome. This remarkable occasion marks South Carolina as the only state in the nation to crown a “State Champion” for simulated flight among high school students.
Regional champions (based on congressional districts), along with the Host School, At Large Bid, and the returning champions from the 2023 AviCom, competed fiercely for the coveted state championship title. Amidst the intense competition, the spotlight shone brightly on the winners:
•The team State Champion for simulated flight was a Homeschooling group from Greenville County, supported by EAA Chapter 249.
•Individual State Champions emerged in a remarkable tie between Katelyn B and Ethan M from Academic Magnet High School in North Charleston.
