The ACE Reader program has been developed for students in grades K-5.   In this program, a wide range of grade level appropriate books are selected by TTA to give our younger students an introduction to aviation principles and history. 

This program will open at the completion of the school year in South Carolina (per Greenville County Schools Calendar) and close at the start of the subsequent school year. 

The ACE Reader program is open to any student in grades K-5.

Students will become ACE Readers when they have read 18 of the 20 books on the suggested reading list and they will be recognized at the 2025 Triple Tree Fly-In

Students in the ACE RC Program will be given virtual classroom instruction followed by in person flying lessons with Radio Control Aircraft.

• Leadership and instruction under the direction of certified  aviation professionals
• Talk with military and airline pilots
• Learn about aerodynamics, navigation and more.
• Flight opportunities in a general aviation aircraft

Requirements

• Interested students should be live in proximity to the Triple Tree Aerodrome
• The program is scheduled to last for 3 weeks with flexible scheduling  (ideally students should fly once a week with their instructor but encouraged to fly more often to retain proficiency)
• Space is limited for this program to no more than 4 students ages 12-17.

Cost

• The cost of this program is $100 to cover expenses related to the program.

Each camp includes a 4-day aviation experience includes seminars, ground school lessons, aviation activities, workshops on basic restoration skills, and at the end of the program a flight opportunity in one of the Triple Tree Aircraft! 

This summer program is broken down into Radio Control Camps and General Aviation Camps.  (Based on grade level)

For a quality experience, ACE Summer Camps will be limited to nor more than 8 per class

• Leadership and instruction under the direction of certified teachers and/or aviation professionals
• Talk with military and airline pilots, mechanics, and more.
• Learn about technological applications with aviation including drones
• Learn about aerodynamics, navigation and more.
• Flight opportunities in a general aviation aircraft
• Opportunities to learn to fly radio control aircraft (Radio Control Camp)
• All course instruction, activities, events, and materials
• Summer Camp T Shirt
• Graduation Ceremony on Thursday with lunch provided (up to 2 guests)

This workship is held in partnership with AOPA.  If you’re like more than 500,000 other pilots (that’s right, half a million), you’ve taken a little breather from flying. Maybe more than a little. Perhaps life threw you a curve. Maybe the pitter-patter of little feet, a growing business, or a medical setback had something to do with it. Whatever the case, things are different now. You’re back in the game and would like to start flying again then this program is for you.

Workshops are held on a scheduled basis in partnership with AOPA.

Our 2024 Teacher Development Workshop was a huge success!  Stay tuned for dates for our 2025 event.

The Triple Tree Aerodrome believes in using our resources to serve as an extension of the classroom.  ACE Teacher events are held in partnership with our local school districts.  We are proud to host teacher professional development workshops for schools throughout the Upstate of South Carolina.  

Teachers attending these workshops are given STEM Lessons to use in their classroom and can earn professional development credits.

We will host professional development workshops again in the Summer of 2025.

What is included?

• Learn how Triple Tree can be an extension of your classroom,
  • New for this year: Ignite and expand the passion for aviation through Experiential Learning. Teachers will actively participate in Kolb’s* Four-stage Learning Cycle:
    • Concrete Experience using flight simulators
    • Reflective Observation through the practice of debriefing
    • Abstract Conceptualization using instructional strategies, such as:
      • scientific demonstration of theories of lift including a discrepant event, and Gallery Walk of aircraft instruments
  • Active Experimentation by revisiting the simulation with the more realistic effects of weather.

In addition, teachers will have an opportunity to apply their learning during a flight opportunity in Triple Tree aircraft

• Lunch is provided

Triple Tree ACE Scholarships            

The Triple Tree Aerodrome is proud to offer scholarship opportunities as part of our Aviation Centered Education (ACE) Portfolio that are critical to student success. The Triple Tree Executive Director and a committee of Triple Tree Volunteers will review each scholarship application, and final approval will be given by the Triple Tree Board of Directors.  

Scholarship opportunities are available  twice a year during the SPRING and FALL.

Awards

Aviation:  $2,500 scholarship     Ages: 16 -20**  

This scholarship opportunity is for individuals who have yet to complete a solo flight in a powered aircraft or have recently soloed. The funds from this scholarship would provide an induvial an opportunity to complete this milestone. If chosen, recipients will be required to complete their private pilot ground school and complete 50 hours of community service at the Triple Tree Aerodrome before receiving their funding. 

**Applicants are required to be 16 years and 5 months at the time of their application 

NEW FOR FALL 2024

• One (1)  $1500 Scholarship for a Tailwheel endorsement  (Private Pilot rating required and between ages 17 and 21)
• Two (2) $1000 Tool Sets for students looking to make a career in aviation maintenance.  (Required to be between ages 15 and 21 at the time of application)

 *Preference is given to students of Greenville Technical Charter High School aviation programs and graduates/ participants of the Triple Tree ACE Programs
