Woodruff, SC — June 7, 2023 — Triple Tree Aerodrome, a distinguished non-profit organization dedicated to aviation education and heritage preservation, proudly announces a momentous occasion in its history. On Sunday, June 25th, 2023, the Aerodrome will honor “Uncle” John Hartness, a cherished volunteer and remarkable pilot, as he celebrates his 100th birthday by taking to the skies in one of our aircraft.
A resident of Rocky Mount, NC, “Uncle” John Hartness, the brother of Tom Hartness, who founded the globally recognized Greenville corporation, Hartness International, has steadfastly supported Triple Tree Aerodrome for many years. He is an esteemed volunteer and continues to inspire as an active pilot, embodying a passion for aviation that has touched countless lives.
Joining “Uncle” John in the cockpit on this momentous occasion will be a pillar in the aviation community, Pat Derrick. Pat, an experienced pilot with thousands of hours of flight time, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this landmark event. Pat Derrick has made significant contributions to the field throughout his career. He has amassed extensive experience flying for Hartness International and previously owned a flight school in Greenville. In addition to his impressive credentials, Pat Derrick is a valued Board Member for The Triple Tree Aerodrome. Pat’s dedication to aviation and tireless efforts to mentor young pilots have earned him the respect and admiration of his peers.
